Connected economy: Revolut launches in new countries


Today, in the connected economy, the financial super app Revolut is expanding to a host of new countries, while Experian and Black Opal are teaming up to help immigrants get better credit. Additionally, Vivid Seats is launching a ticketing program for Capital One customers, and Upgrade marks its 100th partnership with a credit union (CU).

Super App Revolut expands globally

Revolut, a financial apps super company with over 18 million customers across the globe, has expanded its services to more countries. The expansion allows customers in the United Kingdom, European Union, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Japan, Singapore and Australia to transfer cash to accounts in Colombia, Nepal, Peru, Bolivia, Guatemala, Egypt and Costa Rica, supporting seven local currencies. The new money transfer offering allows users to transfer money to these countries in minutes.

Experian partners with Black Opal to provide credit options to U.S. immigrants

Experian and Black Opal have joined forces to improve access to consumer credit for immigrants in the United States, a collaboration that will integrate Black Opal’s credit decision process with Experian’s PowerCurve and CrossCore platforms. Using Experian’s features, Block Opal will be able to make real-time credit decisions while using the platform’s tools for better identity verification and fraud prevention.

Vivid Seats launches ticket program for Capital One customers

Vivid Seats has launched a ticketing platform for Capital One cardholders that allows customers to redeem rewards for tickets to more than 500,000 events. Dubbed Capital One Entertainment, the expanded 4-year partnership with Capital One Financial pledges to unlock “exclusive access to unforgettable experiences in sports, music, dining and more” for cardholders Capital One Rewards. In addition to tickets, cardholders can purchase premium ticket packages, events and on-site benefits, such as Premier seats, access passes, event merchandise and on-the-go gifts.

Upgrading Teams with Northwoods Credit Union for 100th CU Partnership

Upgrade has added Northwoods Credit Union as a partner, marking the FinTech’s 100th collaboration with a UC. Upgrade’s partnerships with UCs allow UCs to purchase loans and card receivables through Upgrade and enroll new members using Upgrade’s online and mobile platform. “We are delighted to have so many loyal and valued partners,” said Adelina Grozdanova, co-founder of Upgrade. “We began working with credit unions shortly after our launch in 2017 and look forward to continuing to deepen our relationships in the space.”

Finicity, Fiserv Ink Secure Data Access Agreement

Open banking technology platform owned by Mastercard Finicity has entered into a data access agreement with payments and financial services company Fiserv that enables customers of Fiserv’s financial institutions (FIs) to enable consumers to share in their account information securely. Data sharing is done through apps using Finicity’s open banking platform, providing access to a range of financial services and better overall financial literacy. The partnership allows Fincity to access tokenized consumer data via AllData Connect from Fiserv’s portal. This, in turn, allows consumers to consent to sharing their financial information with third-party apps.

Nigeria-based Andela launches platform to power custom work

Global remote talent network Andela has launched a platform designed to create a personalized recruiting experience for candidates and recruiters. The Nigerian company, which initially focused on aspiring engineers from over 100 countries, has expanded to include product managers, designers and data workers. The launch follows a $200 million Series E funding round that valued the company at $1.5 billion.
